Märta at the Show Jumping Competition

Erika Eklund Wilson, illustrated by Erika Eklund Wilson

Märta is crazy about horses even if she gets shaky knees and feels scared as she gets close to the stables. Even a dreamer must be allowed to love horses, right?

“The riding school is holding a show jumping competition. My friend Maja and I are going to write about it in our magazine Snort! We won’t be taking part, because we can hardly even ride yet. You have to be able to gallop and jump over obstacles if you’re going to compete. And you mustn’t be scared.”
In the third book about Märta, the girl who loves horses and has started taking lessons at the riding school, but is actually afraid of horse, it’s time for the jumping competition. The big girls go sailing over the obstacles on their horses and win beautiful rosettes – or do they? Perhaps it isn’t only Maja who finds it difficult to be determined sometimes…

This is a new humoristic series called Horses in the Easy-to-Read collection. The series is about Märta who starts riding and her thoughts around this. It is an amusing series describing the love for horses, the life in the stables, feelings, and freindship. The first reader also learns some facts about riding.

The books are written and illustrated by Erika Eklund Wilson and can be read by both horse lovers and those scared of horses. The everyday situations are described with a lot of warmth and you can recognise yourself in the series, richly illustrated with funny illustrations.

Don’t miss the first books in the series Horses, Märta Starts Riding and Märta Galopps, in which Märta discovers she wants to learn how to ride a horse and meets her special horse, Julia, and then faces her fears of riding.
