Monster Academy

Martin Widmark, illustrated by Christina Alvner

Nelly Rapp has to go to dinner at her Uncle Hannibal, along with her Mum and Dad. Hannibal is a strange uncle who hasn’t been in touch in a long time, but he now wants to get to know his relatives better. There is something mysterious about him, and when his valet takes Nelly and her dog London to the attic, she starts to get scared. And she gets even more scared when the light goes off and a hand pulls her into a room. The hand turns out to belong to Lena-Sleva, the teacher at the Monster Academy, who had eagerly been witing for her tenth pupil. Nelly and her dog London are embarked on an adventure where they are confronted with a bloodthirsty vampire – who also has toothache! This is just one of the many tests she has to go through to be admitted to the Monster Academy, the school that trains monster agents! Nelly learns to recognize and fight scary creatures, without becoming a victim of her own fears. As a full-fledged agent, she and London fool the entire ghost and monster world by using three major skills: knowledge, cunning and calm.
