Sew Your Own
Sew Your Own10 Functional, Unisex, Scandinavian DesignsAnn Ringstrand
A sewing book with simple and well-tailored clothes designed by one of Sweden’s foremost designers who was involved in founding the fashion label HOPE in 2001. The book is based on 10 basic designs for you to sew. These patterns can then be varied with simple adaptations to provide triple the number of garments. For example, if you lengthen a top it can become a dress, a shirt can be made with short sleeves and a different collar, a pair of trousers can be transformed into a pair of shorts etc. The patterns are printed on separate sheets and come in a range of sizes, from XS to XL. The author shows you how to adapt the patterns to the wearer’s figure and teaches the tricks of making clothes so that they don’t look homemade. In addition to descriptions of patterns the book contains lessons on fabrics – how to choose the right material, sewing thread and more – as well as a chapter on how clothes you already have hanging in your wardrobe can be adapted and mended/altered. The designs are functional, unisex, tailoring and wardrobe basics. Contains an attractive and practical pattern pocket with full size pattern sheets.
