The Emperor’s Wrath

Martin Widmark, illustrated by Mats Vänehem

Thrilling stories of bandits, offering the reader excitement, laughter and a great dose of history. The Emperor’s Wrath is the tenth and final part of the series Halvdan the Viking. Halvdan and Meia continue their journey, together with the monk Do, as they steer their ship to the country on the other side of the Atlantic: Vinland. But there are already people living in Vinland, the Beothuk people. These people are very happy to play a game that sounds a bit like lacrosse but warn that they are extremely sore losers. However hard Halvdan and Meia try to avoid it, they are soon drawn into yet another adventure where lives are at stake. But Do the monk has brought something with him from Iceland, something he calls “The Emperor’s Wrath”, which turns out to be a very appropriate name… Martin Widmark’s story is fast-moving, ingenious and exciting and Mats Vänehem’s pictures make it a great pleasure to read.
