We are delighted to share that Niklas Rådström has been awarded the 2026 Tage Danielsson Memorial Prize, honouring his humanistic commitment and his unwavering defence of human dignity.

One of Sweden’s most distinguished literary voices, Rådström has written extensively across fiction, poetry and drama since his debut in the 1970s. His work explores existential, historical and deeply human questions with a distinctive sensitivity to language. He is a member of the Samfundet De Nio and Professor Emeritus of Narrative and Creative Writing.

In its citation, the jury highlights Rådström’s reflection, empathy and humanistic courage, qualities that also characterise his public engagement. The prize is awarded every other year to a humanist working in the spirit of Swedish author and cultural figure Tage Danielsson.

Rådström’s latest novel, The Last Witness, was published in March 2026.
