Fourth Reich

After living a completely inconspicuous life up till now, 15 year old Blenda dreams of being in the limelight. LSD writes suicide notes that she then washes in a 60 degree economy wash to bleach the paper clean. Penny spends so long trying to be a copy of someone else she has long forgotten who she is. Together they form the perfect trio, united they will take over the school and make it a better place— with help from Adolf Hitler: “If such a wimp managed to create a whole new realm we should at least be successful in taking over the class”.

The Fourth Reich is about power and the effect it has on people, both those who have power and those who don’t. The events in the novel take place in a Swedish secondary school. Here there was once a belief in the future but now it is more about graffiti, teachers who wear blinkers and pupils who are only concerned with keeping their place in the hierarchy and most of all wanting to belong , not being an outsider.
