The Birds is a deluxe version of the third and revised edition of The Bird Guide, one of the world’s most comprehensive field guides for both beginning and experienced birdwatchers throughout Europe. The deluxe edition’s format is more than twice the size of the field guide to showcase the exquisite and detailed watercolours, but the contents are the same. It covers approximately 1,000 species that can be observed in Scandinavia, the rest of Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. Over 200 educational watercolour plates with more than 4,500 beautiful illustrations show how the plumage of different species vary based on sex, age, season, and population distribution. In addition to the species illustrations, the book contains artwork depicting the birds in their natural habitats.

Lars Svensson is an ornithologist, author and one of Sweden’s most respected bird connoisseurs. He is a highly regarded lecturer on birds and has previously led trips for bird enthusiasts. Lars has collected bird sounds since 1970s and has written many appreciated books on birds though the years. Dan Zetterström is known as one of the foremost bird artists in the world and is an acknowledged field ornithologist. He has illustrated several books on birds and has travelled extensively to gathered first-hand experience of virtually every species covered in The Bird Guide/The Birds. Killian Mullarney is one of the leading bird artists today and an acknowledged expert in field identification.
