We are so happy to welcome Johan Rundberg to Bonnier Rights!

Johan Rundberg, winner of the August Prize 2021 for the children’s novel The Night Raven, is now stepping into adult fiction with the psychological thriller A DANGEROUS GAME. In his first suspense novel for an adult audience, he delivers a captivating story where the plot is characterised by the same skill and feeling as his previous works, which have been rewarded with the Crimetime Award for Children’s Detective Novel of the Year 2021. Inspired by his concerns as a teenage parent, Rundberg creates an intense and thought-provoking story that explores psychological depths.

Johan Rundberg:
-“The idea for A DANGEROUS GAME started with the story being told from the perspective of young people. During the process, I became more inspired to focus on the parent’s point of view – partly as a challenge to myself, but also because the distance to the world of young people created an extra unpleasant dimension. Above all, however, it was fun. Changing things up keeps the desire to write alive for me.

A DANGEROUS GAME follows Sanna and Martin, a couple whose lives spiral into chaos when a video of their daughter begins circulating among her schoolmates.
The video, perceived as a potential threat to the school, quickly isolates the family as fear and judgment from their community take hold. As rumours and suspicions intensify, Sanna and Martin grapple with a harrowing question: What is happening with their daughter—and how well do they really know her?

The story delves into timely and thought-provoking themes, exploring the profound impact of constant social media exposure on children and teenagers.
It also examines the anxieties of modern parenting, highlighting how these fears are shaped and amplified in the digital age.

Johan Rundberg debuted as a children’s book author in 2001. His books have previously been translated into 13 languages. For The Night Raven, he was awarded the August Prize 2021 in the category Swedish Children’s and Young Adult Book of the Year. In 2023, he received the Astrid Lindgren Prize. A DANGEROUS GAME is the next exciting step in his authorship.
