Cecilia Hansson is a Swedish author, journalist, and poet, and a well-known expert on Central Europe. Cecilia’s poignant literary voice stands out and recall like-minded thinkers of today, such as Maria Stepanova. Cecilia’s latest novel Kafka’s Lung was published in August 2024 and is an urgent exploration of Kafka’s life, illness and death, of his words and what they mean to us in the light of present day. Moving through Prague, Vienna, Stockholm & Tornedalen on her quest, Cecilia is breathing fresh air through Kafka’s lungs.
About The Academy of the Nine
The Academy of the Nine is a Swedish literary society founded on 14 February 1913 in Stockholm by writer Lotten von Kraemer’s testamentary donation. The academy has nine members who are elected for life. Its purpose is to promote Swedish literature, peace and women’s issues. It mainly presents a number of literary awards. The Academy started as an alternative to the Swedish Academy and is often compared to its more noted cousin.
