Helena Dahlbäck
Helena Dahlbäck(1960-2000) made her author debut with the book Min syster Lotta och jag. Dahlbäck claimed that she was inspired by her own childhood. As a child she was quite tranquil but was part of large family, surrounded by several siblings and pets. Her parents both worked as doctors and the family moved around quite a bit which made it difficult for her to settle down. Her siblings became her security and her childhood was filled with children’s play. The Julia books came into being by getting to know her daughter’s 10 year old friends that came over to play often and told her lot of their secrets. Their stories and secrets contributed to the desire to depict the drama of the weekday. Despite being an author Dalhbäck was at heart an art critic and a museum lover, she also worked as an educationalist for a Montessori preschool.
