Dragonbane. The Awakening

Dragonbane. The Awakening
E.P. Uggla, illustrated by Johan EgerkransTamea has never felt at home as the daughter of a rich nobleman, with expensive dresses and jewellery. She has always preferred to practise swordsmanship with her older brother. But one day her brother is called away on a secret mission outside the city walls, and soon after Tamea’s tattoo begins to burn like fire. The tattoo that both she and her brother got when they were born, to link them together. She realises that the time for sword training is over, and soon she has left her safe life behind to seek answers to where her brother is, and why the tattoo is calling her.
But outside the ring wall, she faces a reality that is far from the disciplined and organised battle training she had in the courtyard. There is no chivalrous code of honour in a hungry woodworm, any more than there is mercy in the infected flesh wounds created by the sharp jaws of a bloodthirsty goblin.
She soon realises she has no chance on her own in the wilderness, and is forced to join forces with Gizma the duck and an elf named Verven. But can she really trust her travelling companions? And how will she find her missing brother when she can barely make it to the nearest inn in the neighbouring village alive?
The book is based on the world created in the role-playing game Dragonbane, which became a phenomenon in the early 1980s. With the relaunch of the game, interest in Dragonbane has made a strong comeback. With excitement, adventure and skilful storytelling, the intrigue and mystery of “The Awakening” thickens. And with liberating humour and the best of the role-playing world, the book is also a welcome read in the fantasy genre. In the Dragonabne roleplaying universe, it rarely matters whether you’re an elf, dwarf, orc, human, or duck. The only thing that matters is the adventure, the dangers to be overcome and the treasures to be found. And of course, not dying in the process.
“The Awakening” also includes a brand new role-playing adventure created by the Free League so that readers can first experience the stories of the three adventurers and then set off on their own adventures in the world of Dragonbane.
