Little Black Dog in the Night

Rose Lagercrantz, illustrated by Rebecka Lagercrantz

Samson is a little black dog, one of those happy dogs that love greeting all the other dogs, even the big grumpy ones. Samson’s mum collapsed in the underground station and is carried away by the paramedics. In their rush they hadn’t noticed the dog. He runs and runs all the way to the park where he usually walks with his mum. It is a familiar place but he’s so tired that he crawls in under a bush and falls asleep. He’s alone. He’s just a little black dog in the night.

The story slowly develops into an irresistible mini novel about getting lost, persevering and finding your way home – by trusting your nose. It’s a story that’s full of emotions, exciting events and different settings. It’s heart-warming and easy to identify with and it’s told in a a way that is easy to follow and easy to understand way.
What happens if a dog loses its mum and dad? That’s what children’s book author Rose Lagercrantz wants to examine in this tale where she eagerly follows her four-legged hero in his attempt to find his way back to his mum …
