A tougher and more rugged book than Anna Örnberg’s previous one, where the inspiration comes from cool New York lofts with rough brick walls, concrete floors and patinated furniture. This is the natural development of the shabby chic trend and focuses on industrial and factory-look decor.

The book also contains masses of practical tips on how to turn boring old things into cool design pieces. White bases are out. Instead we are painting entire rooms in more muted colours and beautiful dirty pastels. The theme of the book is using old things in new and creative ways. Trunks are turned into coffee tables, panelled doors are turned into kitchen islands, chairs become a narrow sofa and a rusty bicycle wheel is reincarnated as a chandelier.

Anna shows us how to give all sorts of things a rusty surface and describes painting techniques such as crackling and metal effects.
