My Heart Skips and Laughs

My Heart Skips and Laughs
Rose Lagercrantz, illustrated by Eva ErikssonIn this follow-up to the award-winning first book in the Dunne series, Dunne’s best friend Ella Frida has moved away. Dunne won’t let anyone sit in her empty place, because where will her best friend sit when she comes back? While she waits Dunne uses her special technique: she begins to imagine about all the fun things she has done in her life. But her teacher would rather Dunne got involved with the other children and pushes her in between Vickan and Mickan – with devastating results.
It’s a good thing Dunne has such understanding guinea pigs. And above all, an understanding friend in Ella Frida, who doesn’t let either time or distance stand in her way. Before the day is out Dunne’s heart finally gets to jump for joy many times over!
The books in the Dunne series have been translated into twenty-seven languages, sold over 1,4 million copies world-wide and received numerous awards. The first book in the series, My Happy Life, was named one of The New York Times Most Notable Books in 2013 and was nominated for the Prix Sorcières 2014 as well as the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis 2012. This easy-to-read series deals with emotions in a way that children can understand and relate to and is perfectly complemented by the warm and endearing illustrations.
