Spot and Splodge at Home

Spot and Splodge at Home
Lotta Geffenblad, illustrated by Lotta GeffenbladSpot and Splodge’s blue sofa is at the very heart of their home and their lives. One evening they discover that both the sofa and the walls are much dirtier than they should be – yuck. But you can sort out splodges and that sort of thing – Spot and Splodge have seen it on TV. So it’s out with the tins of paint, brushes, rolls of wallpaper and the ladder! It’s a bit tricky sorting out the sofa, but slapping paste onto the wallpaper is just brilliant! Spot and Splodge take it in turns to put up the wallpaper – it’s easier to get it straight if you help each other out. But suddenly Spot is missing, and Splodge needs some help and there seems to be an enormous bulge in the wallpaper…
Lotta Geffenblad’s narrative tone is calm and full of humour, with word play and double meanings. The illustrations have a style all of their own, combining a sense of something quite fresh with the atmosphere of a book of stories from a hundred years ago. Spot and Splodge’s world just looks so cosy, friendly and cool!
