THE BEST BIRDGUIDE IN THE WORLD!

Since 1999, when The Bird Guide was first published, it has sold more than 1.200 000 copies all over the World. It is the most comprehensive field guide on the market covering birds which can be seen in Europe, North Africa and parts of the Middle East, and today it is regarded as setting the standard for bird guides.

This second edition of The Bird Guide has been extensively revised, and 48 extra pages have been added. Some twenty new illustrated pages have also been added, while others have been supplemented significantly. Species, groups and families have been arranged according to the latest scientific findings, and some families have been given more space, including birds of prey, gulls, owls, thrushes, songbirds and sparrows.

Some 900 species are included, 800 of which are dealt with in considerable detail. The thorough, pedagogical texts, which have been updated and in many cases completely re-written, describe the size, preferred habitat, characteristics, variations and call of each species. Symbols indicate how common or rare each species is in each area, and clear maps show the current distribution of each species during breeding, migration and over-wintering.

More than 4,000 beautiful illustrations spread over 200 well-planned, illustrative pages show the different plumage of species, and how their appearance can vary according to gender, age, season and distribution. Arrows and captions indicate important characteristics in each bird, making it easier for the reader to find his way around the illustrated pages. There are also many illustrations showing the birds in their typical environment.

The Bird Guide is a book to have with you out in the field, but it is also a book in which you can immerse yourself at home. For all those who are interested in birds, this book is as indispensable as a pair of binoculars.
