The Thief

In Sunne in Värmland, fat Ida Pripp meets lazy Fredrik Jonson Lök and is enchanted, seduced and humiliated. Twelve children are born in the meager house on Torvnäs, but this is foremost the story of Johan, the thirteenth child born in the meager house in Sunne, his life’s journey to Uppsala, the city of knowledge and loneliness, and to Ravenna, in search of the mystery of the Silver Bible. It’s also about the lifelong love for his cousin Hedvig who takes him far away, in time and space, but never leads him astray.
