Who’s Bleeding?

Stina Wirsén, illustrated by Stina Wirsén

In this book we meet once again the characters from Stina Wirsén’s books “Who’s Cross?” and “Who´s Trousers?” Everybody is supposed to play and build something together. There’s plenty of enthusiastic hammering and painting. But oh no – somebody hits themselves with the hammer, somebody else gets smacked in the face with a plank of wood and has a nosebleed, and how on earth did that foot get caught in there? Everybody needs to be comforted and bandaged up – those who’ve hurt themselves, and those who’ve hurt somebody else. Both things can be just as hard.

“Who’s Bleeding?” is a little book about big feelings. Stina Wirsén captures both the comic and the more difficult aspects of the situation in a masterly way, both in her text and illustrations. The book is aimed at the very young – it looks very simple, but with great finesse and accuracy Stina Wirsén finds those small nuances which make the book a powerful adventure!

Stina Wirsén has her own small series of books for very young children – “A book for the very small”. Two titles appeared in 2005: “Who’s Cross?”, which was nominated for the August Prize, and “Whose Trousers?” Both books received glowing reviews, and were designated as leading books in the Children’s Book Club. Two new titles have now appeared: “Who’s Bleeding?” and “Who Decides?”
