Janette Hentati is awarded the Gerard Bonniers Essäpris 2024

Bonnier Rights are happy to announce that author Janette Hentati has been awarded the Gerard Bonnier Essäpris 2024 for her novel TAMING A RIVER!

The Jury’s motivation for this notable award goes as follows:

“The Gerard Bonniers Essäpris 2024 is awarded to Jannete Hentati’s TAMING A RIVER, a flowing debut that follows the Lule River upstream and combines the exploration of the author’s own family with a social anthropological look at exploitation and cultural history. Hentati shows the importance of the river and electricity for the welfare of the people’s homes, she meets pride and beauty without turning away from disputes and conflicts. What emerges, is a colonialism that extends all the way to present day.”

TAMING A RIVER was first published by Albert Bonnier Förlag in June 2023.
