Happy Publication Day - again!🔥 WHAT ONCE WAS FIR Happy Publication Day - again!🔥

WHAT ONCE WAS FIRE by Viktor Banke is an outstanding debut novel about boys who commit violent crimes and the lawyer who defends them.

“Viktor Banke is not only one of Sweden’s most sought-after defence lawyers, he is also someone who puts people first. When he talks about the young people he defends, he does so without resorting to clichés or oversimplifications – he describes the world in all its complexity, with melancholy and compassion. And with fantastic prose – in this book, Banke demonstrates that he is a highly skilled writer.”

Roland Paulsen is back with DEGIFTED. AN ESSAY ON NATURE AND NURTURE🎉

The notion that our intelligence is genetically determined and unchangeable is deeply ingrained. What happens to a person who is taught from an early age that intelligence is something you either have – or lack?

We are so happy to kick off this season with the r We are so happy to kick off this season with the release of TAKE ROOT, a cracking debut by Amanda Rudelius!🎉

TAKE ROOT is a remarkable novel of recovery and rebirth. The story of a woman escaping a violent past and finding refuge in nature. In a hunting lodge in the forests of Värmland, Aino is trying to build a new life for herself after a dangerous, destructive relationship.

(...) In Amanda Rudelius’s text there was a tone, a language, and an expression far beyond the ordinary. And it carried a unique story about how a woman’s life can turn into a nightmare simply because she fell in love with the wrong man, and about how the forest and nature can save us when darkness closes in (...)🦋

🌟Happy Publication Day!🌟 IN THE SHADOW OF THE BEA 🌟Happy Publication Day!🌟

IN THE SHADOW OF THE BEAR by Nina von Staffeldt is officially out in Norway today🐻

'von Staffeldt’s talent was first recognised in 2016, when she received the Danish Crime Academy’s Debut Diploma for Frosne beviser (Frozen Evidence), the most remarkable Greenland-set crime novel since Peter Høeg’s Smilla’s Sense of Snow. Like Høeg, she captures the Arctic’s austere beauty and peril, but her fascination lies in a tenderly dialectical love for Greenland - its people, language, and wild nature - caught between a modern, capitalist world and the fragile identity of a postcolonial nation.'

Last week, Carl-Johan Vallgren met readers in conv Last week, Carl-Johan Vallgren met readers in conversation as part of the HeadRead literary festival. Apart from an impressive program at the festival, the Swedish Embassy invited readers to the Ambassador’s Residence for an interview about writing life and how an author’s writing changes over time.📚

Moderated by Birk Rohelend, the talk explored Vallgren’s authorship and his place in contemporary literature, with a spotlight on his novel YOUR TIME WILL COME, published in Estonian last year.

It was a truly special evening - warm, inspiring, and full of engaging conversations. A visit we will remember ✨

A big thank you to HeadRead and the Swedish Embassy for the hospitality!
