Erik Hemmingsson
Erik Hemmingsson, born in 1973, is one of Sweden’s leading obesity researchers. He has a PhD in Exercise & Health Sciences at the University of Bristol, as well as in medicin with a focus on clinical obesity research (treatment) at the Karolinska Institute. During the years 2010-2015 he was research group leader at the Obesity Centre at the Karolinska University Hospital, and he is a docent in metabolism. He has been invited as a lecturer to academic conferences around the world, talking in particular about reasons for obesity such as social and psychological factors, stress, mental illness, and the regulation of body weight. He is currently active as a researcher at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences in Stockholm.
