A friendly vacation with dramatic consequences

One summer in the early 2000s, a handful of Swedish tourists spend a couple of weeks together in Finistère, Brittany. Two couples and two singletons – in all, six newfound friends. They spend their days swimming, going on excursions and flirting just beyond what marriage permits. They leave behind a few photos, perhaps one of the group, a watercolour and an anonymous journal which details their adventures.

Five years later someone begins killing them one by one, but not before Detective Inspector Gunnar Barbarotti from Kymlinge has received letters warning him of the impending murders. It remains a famous but unsolved mystery and the officer responsible is ruthlessly hounded by the press. Who is behind the murders? And who is writing letters to Barbarotti?
