Åsa Ekström

Åsa Ekström is born in 1983 and already a well-known manga illustrator, and has made some comic strips and a comic book on her own. You can learn more about Åsa on her website: www.asaekstrom.com

Åsa Ekström is one of the first people to get involved in manga in Sweden. She has worked as an assistant in a Japanese comic strip studio. Her book, Sayonara September, confirms her place as the foremost manga illustrator in Sweden. She has worked for several newspapers, and is currently launching her fabric collection “CHARLOTTA” at all IKEA stores around the world. The “Charlotta” collection was designed and produced by Åsa Ekström and IKEA on the theme “Japan meets Scandinavia”. Åsa also illustrated the children’s book series “Drakriddare” (the Dragon Knight).

IN 2014 she got awarded the “Unghunden” price for her encouragement of the
children’s and juvenile series books in Sweden.
